Human vs Human

The institution of humanity is degrading to such an extent that we must be ashamed of being called the most intelligent race of the planet. Everyday, news papers and news channels are permeating our minds with the extent of human horror. If reading about rape and murder makes your gut wrench, how do you understand the reason behind shooting down a civilian plane? How do you comprehend the killings of innocent lives in war torn conflicts? How do you feel when you hear about sexual exploitation of young girls and women?

Our so called elected leaders and representatives are incriminating each other, resulting in sinful gestures like transfer of blame and dissimulation ensuing in deception and devastation as the outcome and the world is officially rendered hopeless.

I must say that like everyone else, I am exhausted following world news. The very thought that someones tragedy could so easily be mine makes my heart sink. I am pained at the abject level of insensitivity and ruthlessness of another being. Anger and hatred towards the men and women who sought to harm the very essence of life invades my system. The miscreants are by and large safe and secured under derisory governments and ludicrous leaders. Making them repent and pay for their sins in this lifetime is just a chance, while somewhere a family is grieving and paying the price for being around the culprits of our time. All I can do is close my eyes and whisper a prayer for those suffering incosequential acts of human nature. At their hour of need I pray they find hope to go on living.

No one is spared. From toddlers to aged beings, murder and other atrocities is taking down humanity and the bullets of deceit is strewn all over the world. Forgiveness is vanishing, despair is taking form, gnawing at our very existence. Our safety is compromised, our life is under threat. What do we do? Where is justice? When will we read about these perpetrators being caught and punished? It is no victory, but for those affected by their ruthless acts, justice is all they seek.

I remember growing up and reading about some good samaratains or people like Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Princess Diana among others who spent their lives making a difference in this world. Noble peace prize winners and their recognitions always intrigued me.It gave me hope to learn about the intense studies on cancer research and AIDS vaccine experiments for tomorrows world. I always felt that glimmer of hope knowing that researchers, scientists and organizations are working night and day to save our world, protect wildlife and nature and make it a better place to live in eventually. Who knew that one day we would come to infer that in the same world we live in, there are miscreants and felons, murderers and terrorists that will so mercilessly change the dynamics of life and trust in a human being.

As a child I was unaware of significant terms like 'terror','exploitation','murder' or 'torture' among many. The situation has changed adversely. In today's world, we are educating children about wars on terror and victimization of women. Children are more aware of assaults and harrasments. Somewhere, even the essence of growing up with the right to a decent childhood has been compromised and as an adult, I cannot help but wonder the impact it will bear on the young generations as their exposure to drugs, war and terror is lurking in every corner of their being.

The human race is defeated. The insane and devious acts of inhumaness and terror has to stop, if not the wars will go on and people will insensitively kill and destroy life, women will be exploited and children stripped off their childhood. Then it will be time, finally after a lifetime, at the end of it all, every human on this earth will leave this planet and when that time comes, while some will have a guilt free life to redeem, others will be living in a hell of purgatory forever.

Poem: Ups and Downs

Take a look at your life and let it mean something.
Try to fix the devastating pain that is occuring.
Have faith and pray for a rainbow to come your way.
Take stride and comfort in living a normal day.

Walk with your glory, sing with your soul.
Feel confident in your body and let your heart console,
The bitterness that drives you to the brink of despair.
Gather your courage and brave a new repair.

Sense your emotions, direct them to stay low.
Let the pulse of healing gently drive its flow.
Stay true to yourself, the time is brittle.
Take care of your heart, the stress will settle.

For you already know that time will heal.
Not the past or the present, but the future is the deal.
Tell yourself everyday that your loved and cared.
After all, lifes lessons are to be learnt blunt and bared.

Indian Monsoon

"Innocent droplets of rain make almost all events quite natural"

The onset of the monsoon is finally here. You know the season has hit India when the sky above displays tumultuous dark ragged clouds, the air smells earthy and renewed and tiny water droplets glisten on leaves like pearls of a fresh oyster. For the people of India it spells relief after struggling through torrid summer days of heat and sweat.

The Indian monsoon renews large parts of the country from virtual desert to vivid green grassland bringing relief to parched land and scorched earth. Experiencing the most dramatic monsoon in the world, India witnesses the blitz of recurrent rain for a good four months starting June-September. Sadly, adverse climatic changes and global warming are now drastically subsiding the seasonal period and hence the monsoon is deliberately turning out to be unpredictable.

The season begins with sporadic showers that convert into intense rain with booming thunder and freaky lightning. The atmosphere is elevated; the people of India are injected with vigor and relief that shows in the spirit of cloudburst enthusiasm that they so effortlessly display.

Growing up as a witness to the seasonal rains every year, my experiences with the monsoons are memorable and diverse. Heading to school during those rainy days always ensured we carry our bright colored peppy raincoats and flashy umbrellas. As children we enjoyed getting drenched. The spirit of youth is always fervent to play games or dance in the rain uncaring of any consequence. People in offices constantly love to peek out the window every odd minute to ensure the rains are holding for them to get back home before the commencement of some heavy thunder showers. Consistent rain creates havoc and will infuriatingly influence traffic and upset city life. The most familiar sight is to see people wading through muddy puddles, scrambling to find an auto rickshaw while irrational two wheeler's zip by splashing all that murky muddy water that makes you squeal back in anger. Or perhaps listening to the thundering rain anticipating for some clearance while sipping on hot chai with sizzling bhaajis, spicy chaats or maybe some garam jalebis and hot samosas at the corner stall.

For the romantic at heart, the season is the best time to fall in love. During days when the rains thunders down and life outside is practically stranded, reading a romantic novel by the window sipping on hot coffee is kind of enthralling. Occasionally, lovers are spotted on otherwise deserted roads snuggling under a mediocre umbrella, all the time fixated on each other. Water gushing down, bolts of lightning, clap of thunder in the distance and threatening rains overwhelm the landscape to embrace sceneries of superlative magnificence that truly is a spectacle to be captured. It is that time where nature comes alive in a scene of cool lush greenery.

The feelings and experiences are innumerable from man to man, but the intensity of the rainfall is consistent, ignorant to the aching troubles of the people affected. This is certainly a season of failing in love all over again that can only be experienced at home, here’s to the Indian Monsoon.

Eccentric Captures!

Sounds corny, yet highly convinced that falling in love is best at sunset. At the day's end, when the sun disappears behind the clouds and everything becomes calmer and peaceful, I could not help but pick up my DSLR and capture these eccentric shots. And instantly I knew I was pleased with the captures. It was like as if immediately I surpassed a feeling of composure to end an otherwise overcast Monday.
