DIY Yoga Mat Cleanser

Ever since I started working out 30 minutes a day on Yoga regime, I am always conscious about my yoga mat swelling up the funk after a session. It is important to clean the yoga mat regularly and let it air dry before folding it away.

Yesterday's post was about all the poses that a beginner must know and learn to begin a yoga practice. If you missed it, here is a link to that post.

For a Yoga practitioner, you must always have a clean environment every time you set yourself up to practice Yoga. There are many products for yoga mat cleaners, but the best one I have is a DIY home cleanser that does the job just as effective. Here is the recipe below, a quick and easy way to clean your Yoga mat.

Purchase a spray bottle from the dollar store (if you can get a glass one that would be great). Fill the bottle with 1:1 filtered water and witch hazel(alcohol free). To this mixture you can add a 10 drops of those aromatic essential oils that you prefer. You may choose a combination or just one, its perfectly fine. I am a huge lavender buff so my preference is lavender and tea tree oil. Give the bottle a good shake and spray onto yoga mat. Wipe clean with a warm damp cloth and allow to air dry. Always store the spray away from sunlight in a dark, cool place.

Namaste!
